The Team at Optimal Brain

Kelley Hudson, MPS, LADC, LPCC

I see therapy as teamwork and strive to work alongside you rather than following or leading. You are the expert on yourself, and I can never know all that you know about your own experiences. I am here to help you find the answers that are already within you. I will share what I’ve learned from my work with others and my own life while honoring the choices you make toward achieving your goals and providing you with honest feedback along the way.

I bring curiosity, acceptance, humor, and warmth to the therapeutic relationship. I am intrigued by our differences as human beings and love learning about people. Each of us has our own unique experiences, yet we often share many of the same basic needs: feelings of connection, safety, and capability. Parts of our stories can be painful, while many are truly inspiring. We are so much more than our adversities; I believe we are often unaware of how resilient and resourceful we are.

We are always in a state of change, whether we intend to be or not. I believe that good therapy helps us understand where we’ve been and make sense of it. This clarity allows us to see where we want to go and who we want to become, shifting our focus from merely surviving to truly thriving.

I am licensed as both a professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and an alcohol and drug counselor (LADC). I attended the University of Minnesota, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in child psychology, a graduate certificate in addiction studies, and a master’s degree in integrated behavioral health. I have worked as an addiction counselor and a mental health therapist for a combined 15 years. As a parent of adult children and a grandparent, I have navigated the complexities and joys that come with life transitions. Currently, I see individual adults, ages 18 and up, and I work entirely remotely at this time. I recently moved to Colorado after spending my entire life in Minnesota and I’m enjoying the hiking, paddleboarding, camping (and glamping), and the incredible mountain scenery.

I look forward to getting to know you and embarking on your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and happiness. There may be some tears along the way, but there will also be joy, connection, and laughter.
